At the Council Cabinet today there was an item about the Sustainable Communities Act 2007. This is designed to improve the economic, social or environmental well being of the communities or promote participation in civic or political activity. The Act invited people either through the Council or Government to think of ideas to improve the local community through the above. A number of ideas were put before Cabinet including increasing local food production, keeping essential local services open eg post offices, promoting production of local renewable energy.
