In recent days, a considerable amount of misinformation has appeared regarding a proposal to build a new school on the Lindsworth School site, off Monyhull Hall Road.
Local Councillors were first made aware of the possibility that a school could be built in Brandwood Ward just before Christmas, when they were invited to join a working party which was exploring the various options about how the building of the new school would be financed and where it would be situated.
In order to allay residents' concerns it must be stressed that no decision has yet been made about where to build the new school as there are a number of sites presently under consideration.
Therefore, residents should be assured that at this stage all proposals are just that, "proposals", and that the process about how to proceed is at an early stage.
If, and when, the possibility that a school will be built on the Lindsworth site becomes a firm proposal, residents can be assured that a comprehensive consultation will take place, as it is fully understood by all the parties involved in the process that residents' views must be taken into account, because they are the people who will be mostly affected by a decision to build a school near their homes.
