Parts of Birmingham including Druids Heath are getting a slice of £12million of funding for a new initiative to "connect communities" by tackling perceptions of unfairness and community tensions in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the country. This is based around concerns about jobs, migration, access to housing and anti-social behaviour but it recognises that more intensive engagement is needed in these communities to avoid the danger that extremists will try to exploit dissatisfaction and insecurity in ways which pull communities apart.
